Square Enix President Adamant on his Idea of Blockchain Technology and the Future of Video Games.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Japan, Yosuke Matsuda, the president of Square Enix, reiterated that the future of video games will feature blockchain technology.

Previously, Matsuda faced severe backlash from the Square Enix fanbase and other video gamers over his nft-hyping blockchain letter. His letter was regarded as terrible by the majority of gamers and the president was censured due to it.

Despite the previous backlash, rampant scams, hackers stealing millions, people losing money, rug pulls, etc.

Matsuda once again comes in favor of blockchain technology. He supported the idea of blockchain in games and was pretty excited about it.

In the interview, he said that the future of Square Enix will comprise blockchain-powered games.

“Until now, in most games, we provided the content as a finished product,” argued Matsuda. “And the players played that content.

However, there are a certain number of players in the world who want to contribute to making games more interesting, by creating new settings and ways of playing.”

“If, instead of relying on goodwill, we can also provide incentives to those who contribute to development by utilizing technologies such as blockchain, there is a possibility that innovative and interesting content can be created from the ideas of users.”

Matsuda’s unclear idea seems to focus on those gamers that are also actively contributing in the betterment and evolution of the games via mods and other ideas.

Building on the idea of contributor gamers, Matsuda also shows an embracing attitude towards the utilization of blockchain technology and innovative ideas revolving around it in future games.

Matsuda wants Square Enix to join the growing list of publishers and studios working on the integration of blockchain and NFT‘s in their upcoming video game projects.

However, the ride is a bumpy one so far for Square Enix like other publishers especially Ubisoft who have faced massive criticism from the gaming community.

Blockstars – Game Review

“Blockstars” is a blockchain game created by veteran gamers and developers Niko Vuori, Cory Johnson, and Sherrie Chen. It is specifically designed for music lovers and offers players a unique gameplay experience that combines elements of music and gaming. “Blockstars” is a unique simulation game that allows players to live out their dream of becoming a music manager. Players can buy non-fungible token (NFT) singers and manage their careers, earning rewards in the process. The game’s concept of allowing players to take on the role of a music manager and make decisions that impact the careers of virtual artists is likely to be enjoyable and engaging for many players. “Blockstars” gives players and the community true ownership of assets, including virtual artists represented as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The game’s collection series includes a total of 10,000 Blockstars, with 110 belonging to the Origin Series and 9890 belonging to the Foundation Series. Of these, 110 Origin Series Blockstars and 40 Foundation Series Blockstars cannot be purchased and will be given to veteran members of the game’s community. However, players can buy any remaining Blockstars from the collection through the Magic Eden marketplace. This system of rewards for veteran members and opportunities for players to purchase NFTs helps to create a dynamic and engaging gameplay experience for players. Blockstars Gameplay; The basic purpose of the game is to raise NFT singing bands and help make their careers with a fair share of the profit. The bands will write their music, record the songs, release them, and try to achieve a place on the Billboard rankings. In order to earn some extra cash, you can take part in gigs and small shows. Eventually, when you have enough required cash, you can upgrade your Record Label which in turn will start a new phase of the game – training and making a new generation of singers. The game follows the passage of time according to the real world with a 24-hour time span, which makes the development of the Blockstar singers more in sync with reality. You will earn profits in the form of $ROL tokens which is the governance token of the game. The price of the Blockstars will depend on the rarity of the NFT. The rarity in the Block stars is not just on cosmetic experience but also the skills of the NFT that will actually influence the gameplay. The project hopes to create a player-to-player economy that is also fun to play. So come on and join the glitz and glam of the music industry!

Blockchain Brawlers – Game Review

Blockchain Brawlers is a flagship project of WAX Studios. It is a game where quirky, funny, rowdy, weird NFT wrestlers fight with each other in brawls. So, the winner earns the reward; the game token Brawlers $BRWL. Moreover, it is the first wrestling-themed NFT game on the blockchain technology platform. The players can buy the NFT wrestlers and equip them with equipment from the World Assets eXchange (WAX) with $BRWL to fight in the matches against other wrestlers. Blockchain Brawlers tokenomics showed promising signs early on. The BRWL token showed a drastic increase in value of over 150% in the month of May 2022 which is only 1 month after the game’s release on 30th March. It is because 2000 new unique wallets were activated in connection to the WAX platform of the game. Blockchain Brawlers Gameplay: Players need a wrestling ring and a brawler to start playing the game. There are various kinds of these arenas and wrestlers that are available for a price to the players. Moreover, the prices are different depending on their rarity. However, the game has a huge floor price of at least $6000 to buy a ring and a wrestler which critics claim to be a “digital serfdom”. Therefore, many players who aren’t affluent enough have the option to rent the ring and the brawler. Apart from buying the brawlers, the players can create their own brawlers through different items which require more time and skill, and definitely more BRWL tokens. If a player doesn’t have enough BRWL tokens, they can be purchased from the secondary marketplaces of WAX like the Atomic Hub. The game economy is simple: create brawlers, train them, equip them, fight them, and earn.

Explore Decentraland: A Blockchain-Powered Virtual World

Decentraland is a 3D virtual reality platform that operates on the Ethereum blockchain, offering users a decentralized metaverse where they can create, trade, and explore immersive digital experiences. Founded by Ari Meilich and Esteban Ordano, Decentraland has evolved into a groundbreaking virtual world that empowers creators and users while utilizing blockchain technology. Here’s an extensive summary of Decentraland’s key features and dynamics. Land Ownership and Building: At the core of Decentraland is the concept of land ownership. Users can purchase virtual plots of land called LAND. Each LAND token represents a 33×33 ft. piece of virtual land within Decentraland’s metaverse. These LAND tokens are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) based on the ERC721 protocol, making them tradeable assets just like traditional NFTs. LAND owners have the creative freedom to build various 3D structures and artwork on their land parcels, from houses and theaters to offices and museums, and even banks, shopping malls, grocery stores, sculptures, landscapes, and towers. Tokenomics: Decentraland’s economy revolves around two tokens: LAND and MANA. LAND tokens, as mentioned earlier, represent virtual land ownership. MANA is the platform’s native cryptocurrency, which operates as an ERC-20 token. MANA has several use cases within the ecosystem, including purchasing items in the Decentraland Marketplace, acquiring tickets to virtual events, and obtaining LAND tokens. MANA is also fungible, making it easily tradable on major cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance.

Immersive Experience:
Decentraland offers an immersive experience where users can customize their avatars to their liking, enhancing the sense of presence in the virtual world. The decentralized nature of the platform extends to governance, allowing members to vote on policy changes, land auctions, and subsidies. This democratic approach adds a layer of realism to the virtual experience, mirroring real-world decision-making processes.

Platform Architecture:
Decentraland operates on a three-layered architecture. The Consensus Layer tracks LAND ownership, the Land Content Layer handles asset distribution, and the Real-Time Layer facilitates peer-to-peer interactions, enabling a seamless and interactive virtual world.

Development and ICO:
Development of Decentraland began in 2015, culminating in a closed beta launch in 2019 and a public release in February 2020. The project raised $24 million through an initial coin offering (ICO) in August 2017. Notably, Decentraland’s MANA tokens are mined using ASIC mining rigs, employing a proof-of-work consensus mechanism similar to Ethereum. Additionally, off-chain voting through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) allows the community to participate in governance decisions.

Token Supply:
The total supply of MANA tokens is capped at 2.19 billion, and users can acquire MANA through various centralized and decentralized exchanges, including Coinbase.

Unique Features:
Decentraland differentiates itself from other virtual worlds by offering a decentralized and user-owned metaverse. This empowers creators to fully realize the value of their creations, while users have greater control over their virtual experiences, content, and interactions.

Activities in Decentraland:
Within Decentraland, users can engage in a wide range of activities, including socializing, gaming, exploring user-generated scenes, visiting virtual galleries, attending events, and trading virtual assets. These activities make Decentraland a dynamic and engaging virtual world.

Participation in Governance:
Decentraland’s governance system allows MANA and LAND token holders to participate in shaping the platform’s future. Users can propose changes, vote on policy decisions, and actively contribute to the development of the metaverse.

In summary, Decentraland represents a pioneering virtual reality metaverse that leverages blockchain technology to create a decentralized, user-driven ecosystem. It offers users the opportunity to own virtual land, engage in creative activities, and participate in the governance of a truly immersive and interactive virtual world.
