NFT Games Ban, Smart or Not?

29 Blockchain Game Studios criticize Valve’s ban on NFT games.

A group of blockchain game studios got together and said that Valve was wrong to ban the NFT-based game from Steam. Steam has a strict ban on NFT games and won’t sell them in its store.

In an open letter, the group criticized Valve’s decision and asked the company to change its mind.

NFT Games Ban

Last week, Valve’s Steam digital distribution service told Spacepirate Games, the company that made Age of Rust, that it won’t let NFT games be sold on Steam. The reason is that there are questions and doubts about the “real-world value” of NFT items.

On the other hand, the Blockchain Game Alliance and 29 blockchain game studios and platforms, including Enjin, wrote an open letter. The letter asked Valve to remove the ban on NFT games and games that use blockchain. In the letter, NFT content and games were asked to be added to Steam.

Recently, NFT games, especially Axie Infinity, have done very well. The game’s business model is “Play to Earn,” and players can control the economy. People in the game buy NFT items, level them up, and then sell them to other players.

In 2021, there was a rise in the popularity of NFT art and cryptocurrencies. NFT games have helped thousands of people around the world make a living.

Using blockchain technology in NFT games is a new idea, and it has given players new ways to make money while they play. Technology has made games more player-centered, democratic, and decentralized, and they have a lot of potential.

The blockchain group was upset that Valve was using its power to keep NFT games off of its huge platform. Because of Valve’s decision, a whole category of games that has some of the most exciting games has been shut down.

Valve’s decision not to let NFT games in has to do with how gambling laws might affect the games. In Washington, it is against the law for video games to offer real-world rewards. Valve has made it clear, though, that NFT games will not be allowed on Steam.
